Sound Sensitivity Support

Assessment and support for children and young people experiencing difficulties with sound sensitivity

Sound Sensitivity Support

For some, loud sounds and noisy places can be distressing.

It can mean that a child or young person misses out on classes at school, social events and the impact can be felt by the family too.

Whilst at times helpful, wearing ear defenders or ear plugs is not the whole answer.

What Happens During The Assessment?

If a recent hearing assessment has not been carried out, this appointment will include a full hearing evaluation in addition to a specific history around the sounds that are causing a problem.

The support strategies and management will be tailored to the individual’s needs and circumstances, with specific advice for school/college if necessary.

The aim of all strategies is that they are easy and fun to implement being both child and family centred.

We will provide a full report including all results and any recommendations. A follow up can be scheduled in person or virtually if required.
